Pranjal Bishnoi
Data Science Intern
Client: Analytics Advisory Group (AAG)
First and foremost, I want to say that my experience with AAG has served me
very well and has taught me valuable skills in the business field. As an incoming high school senior, I had some uncertainty about going into business as my priority major in college but this experience changed that for me. Working with technology in a business environment intrigued me and I
thoroughly enjoyed making an impact to the healthcare community.
The atmosphere felt very productive and positive during this internship, so
that was one thing I liked during my time with AAG. Also, I felt that I could bond well with the other interns and I thoroughly enjoyed their company. Even with all the interesting conversations I had with them, we got along very well with one another. While many of the interns would work remotely because they live in Houston and I live in Austin, we were all able to work collaboratively with one another so that wasn’t a challenge. Learning these necessary soft skills with AAG provided me the tools I needed to work with other people in a professional setting. We all shared a common goal throughout the project and that was key for all of us to work productively.
As for the hard skills that came with this internship, they were incredibly
useful to me. I came into this project not knowing a word of SQL and by August, I was developing Stored Procedures for different patterns and even created my own for Quality Assurance purposes. I find it remarkable how this internship taught me so much in working with databases and SQL. I had some experience working with database servers prior to this internship, but this broadened my knowledge of working with information technology and encouraged me to pursue Management Information Systems in college. Especially working in a consulting company, I was exposed to how information technology works in business.
Working with the CEO of this project also proved beneficial for me because
he provided us valuable coaching in regards to what careers we want to go in. He is an excellent mentor and one who taught us important values that we needed to learn when working in a corporation. He was very supportive of us throughout the internship and was confident that we would be able to deliver a demo-able product to him. I am very fortunate to have worked with him during the course of this project.
This internship modeled how a real-life business environment would be and
I am grateful for that. It directed me on what path I want to go in for my career in business and where I would succeed in. The skills that I gained from working in AAG has developed both my interpersonal and personal qualities which I will never forget. It was a rewarding experience which pushed me to work my best.
