Davis Townsend
Analytics Intern
Client: Austin Regional Clinic (ARC), Large Insurance Provider & Benefits Advisor in Texas
I worked with Ajay on one of his first projects with a Large Insurance Provider & Advisor in Texas, part time later on my senior year in college, and have maintained contact since. He is a great boss and mentor who sincerely cares for the best interests of his employees. I’ve worked in various different functions while working with Ajay, from redesigning a data model, to building visualizations in Tableau, to setting up a data environment that is conducive for doing predictive and prescriptive modeling, to the boring but necessary steps of documenting and standardizing business processes. All of these experiences have contributed greatly to my knowledge and were a great help when I went into grad school, as well as being solid foundations for my analytics career as a whole.
Additionally these experiences helped me gain experience in managing projects, communicating with coworkers, and overall have developed me into a sharper person capable of accomplishing complicated tasks and navigating the treacherous political waters you will encounter in any job.
My advice for anyone interested in analytics is to get in touch with Ajay and show where you can provide value. He is very receptive and willing to push you forward in your career if you’re willing to put in the work.
