Yuna Chu
Technology Consulting Intern
Client: Austin Regional Clinic (ARC), Spiceworks
Being a technology consulting intern with AAG is one of my most rewarding experiences. I arrived assuming the job boiled down to projects, new skills, etc. I'm happy to say my expectations were inadequate! Last summer, a fellow intern and I assisted AAG in the testing and production of a data warehouse in SQL Server to enable the client to perform analysis in a BI environment. Our training consisted of understanding database management systems, development processes, and data analytics. Ajay invested hours and time making sure we mastered the material. The logical models we created were based on extensive research on medical billing and procedural code systems. We developed dimensional modeling schema, fact/ dimension tables, and views in SQL Server to create five scripts that could easily delete, populate, and recreate in under 10 minutes.
Working alongside Ajay, the CEO of AAG, made my expectations incomparable to my professional and personal growth. This internship taught me how to excel beyond absorbing knowledge. I practiced how to derive value in the work I was doing every single day. I can code in a new programming language, I have exposure to Tableau (a data visualization software), and I am thrilled to begin my career in the information technology industry and data analytics. To any potential intern candidates: go learn about life, be curious everyday, and be excited for new challenges!
