Analytics Intern
Client: Analytics Advisory Group (AAG)
My summer working at Analytics Advisory Group was one of the most rewarding summers of my life. I went into my internship with the expectation that I would be introduced to the world of analytics, and that expectation was absolutely met! But the internship was about a lot more than just analytics. Ajay has a vested interest in his employees’ professional development, and sees that they are learning just as much about their career ambitions as they are about analytics.
Before the internship began, Ajay immediately made it clear that he wanted feedback throughout the internship on what I liked, disliked, and wanted to learn. I let him know that I wanted an introduction to analytics, and he held a crash course to introduce me to SQL and the fundamentals of analytics and database development. Despite not having much technical experience before this, my main project with AAG was to create a comprehensive data warehouse to aid client acquisition in the healthcare industry. To do this, I was tasked with doing heavy research and finding openly-available data online, followed by cleaning and editing the data, and finally creating visualizations when necessary. Ajay was always available to walk me through new concepts and encouraged me to ask questions.
By the time the summer was over, I had learned as much about myself, my work ethic, and my collaborative style, as I had about analytics. I would advise anyone interested in analytics to look into the possibility of interning at AAG. They do a great job of explaining why every task and project is important, as well as the meaning behind it. Because of this, my internship with AAG provided me with a new way of thinking about things, which is an ability that I will be able to apply to anything I may encounter in the future.
