Data Science Intern
Client: Analytics Advisory Group (AAG)
The summer of 2019, I worked with Analytics Advisory Group (AAG) leading the Alexa project. The experience with the group was not only informative and highly influential on my career goals, it also turned out to be one of the most rewarding summers of my life. Today I still keep in contact with the cohort of interns on the project and they are still some of the most supportive and genuine people I have met.
I heard about AAG’s internship program through a close friend of mine who spoke highly of his experience and the mentorship Ajay offered. Taking the advice seriously, I decided to take the initiative to learn SQL and Python on my own before contacting Ajay. After multiple meetings, he decided to give me the opportunity to work on a solution; and I am still so thankful he took that chance to invest in me. Through working on the project, I learned how to utilize business knowledge and domain understanding to code a tool that would be useful in the real world. Ajay constantly pushed the intern group to face every hurdle with an attitude that no problem is unsolvable. This mindset is something that still sticks with me to this day and inspires me to look further into seemingly impossible challenges.
The summer internship with AAG pushed me to develop an applicable business sense, communication and presentation skills, and a holistic understanding of data analytics and database systems. Additionally, with Ajay’s mentorship, I was able to hone in on my career goals and expand the scope of what I believed I could achieve personally.
I would highly recommend pursuing a project or internship with AAG as well as Ajay as a personal mentor.
